Emily grew up in New Paltz, NY, and stayed in her hometown to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at SUNY New Paltz. While completing her degree she became a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator. Emily has rehabilitated and released squirrels, rabbits, turtles, opossums, and multiple birds.
She has always had a passion for food and cooking, and was inspired to enroll in the Baking and Pastry program at the Culinary Institute of America. In her final year of culinary school, Emily accepted an internship in the pastry department of the Statler Hotel. Ithaca became Emily’s home in 2014.
When she’s not at Bethe House, Emily enjoys time spent with her favorite four-legged friend, Teddy, a one-year-old goldendoodle. She is also involved in beekeeping and currently has two beehives that she keeps at her home in Ithaca. Emily has established flower and vegetable gardens that continue to expand each passing year. Pottery is another hobby that Emily has a passion for. If you time your visit right you might even have the good fortune to be offered homemade cookies presented on a unique handmade dish. Hint: Emily loves baking over the weekend, especially once fall hits and the weather cools.
