Julia Thom-Levy
Associate Professor of Physics

Prof. Thom-Levy was born in Germany and studied Physics at Hamburg University. She has spent the last 20 years building particle detectors and mining data to understand the fundamental building blocks of matter.

She has always been inspired by the genius and spirit of Hans Bethe, one of the fathers of modern particle physics. Her research has led her to particle accelerator labs all over the world, e.g. CERN, the Deutsche Electron Synchroton, the Stanford Linear Accelerator Lab, and the Fermi National Accelerator Lab, where she met her husband Steve Levy. Steve is a Physics Professor at Binghamton University who studies squishy things like cells.

Their children Max and Leo are expert Lego builders who enjoy catching them all, soccer, and playing with their old chocolate Labrador Mira.
