Chef and Staff Each House has its own Dining Room led by the House Chef and Cornell Dining staff. Stephen Snyder House Chef/Manager Chef Stephen began his culinary career at a fine dining French restaurant in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went on to work at an upscale German restaurant and became executive chef at a Mediterranean/Asian fusion bistro. Before coming to Cornell, he has been chef at a California cuisine restaurant overlooking Lake Tahoe, a Collegetown pub/restaurant, ran a large wedding/catering venue and helped open both a Mediterranean and Southwestern restaurant in the area. An avid gardener, he enjoys using fresh vegetables and herbs in both authentic and creative interpretations of classic preparations of food from around the world. Recently he has been enamored by the seductive spices and scents of North Africa as well as the mellow, gentle heat of South America. With his elementary math specialist teaching wife preparing to compete in the Lake Placid Ironman in July and two children in elementary school, Chef Stephen is aware of while a healthy, well balanced, freshly cooked meal comforts the soul, it also prepares the mind and body to take on any challenge.
