Guillermo Metz
Guillermo Metz joined Cornell Cooperative Extension Tompkins County in 2008, leading their green building and renewable energy program.
Since 2016, he has led the Energy & Climate Change Team at CCETC, and in 2024 he moved to a new position there focused on helping farmers navigate large-scale solar development, including opportunities to co-site solar with agriculture. He co-chairs the Community and Energy Program Work Team and works closely with Cornell University researchers and Extension educators across the state.
Guillermo’s academic background is based in biology (BA) and journalism (MS). Born in Chile and raised in Maryland, he has lived in the Ithaca area since 1997, raising his two children in a straw bale house he and his former wife built themselves (with lots of community help!) that was off-grid for the first 20 years. He is very excited to join the Hans Bethe community and looks forward to learning from and supporting the residents.
