Nancy Brooks
Nancy Brooks is an economist and faculty member in the Department of City and Regional Planning. She is also currently the interim director of graduate studies for Cornell’s Institute for Public Affairs and a member of Ithaca’s Commons advisory board. She is an applied microeconomist and is the co-editor of a Handbook on Urban Economics and Planning. She loves buying locally and supporting the beautiful working landscape of the Finger Lakes region. When the Ithaca weather is nice, she likes hiking with her family. Nancy also has a travel bug and enjoys exploring the cities of planet earth.
This is the beginning of her fourth academic year at Cornell. Before arriving in Ithaca she taught economics at the University of Vermont. She earned her Ph. D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania where she was a graduate fellow in their college house system. After graduating from college in 1985, Nancy served in the Peace Corps in Botswana from 1986-1988.
Nancy is married to Hans Bethe House fellow Derk Pereboom, and they have two daughters, Eleanor and Marilyn. They all look forward to spending time at Hans Bethe House!
