Aoise Stratford
Aoise is a playwright, so she gets to make a lot of things up. Things she has made up have been performed in theatres in Ithaca, all over the country and overseas. She also makes things up for books and films, and she writes about the things other people make up as well. She is also a dramaturg, which is like being an ambassador for other people’s stories, helping theatre makers realize their work for audiences. She teaches classes on playwriting, dramaturgy and a first year writing seminar on detective stories and gender (so she watches a lot of Veronica Mars and How To Get Away With Murder). She also works with students across the Arts and Sciences as an academic advisor.
Aoise’s husband, Jamie, is a professor in the astronomy department and takes students stargazing at the Hartung Boothroid observatory. When he is not looking up he can be found at Greek Peak where he works with the Adaptive Ski Program and helps out with the Greek Peak Ski Team. They have three very busy kids. Rowena, Gwen and Hugo, who sometimes come to dinner when they are not skiing, dancing, making music or pretending to do their homework. We’d love to take you to the theatre, the telescope, or the ski slopes, so come chat to us at dinner!
